Stitched and framed cigar silks mounted behind glass.
Tobacco silks were decorative cloth inserts placed inside cigar boxes in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They were luxury branding. Over time, people (often women) stitched them together into quilts, covers, wall hangings, or keepsakes rather than throwing them away. Brands represented in this piece include: Lord Lytton, Counsellor, Capt. Sigsbee, Grand Republic, and Crown.
Good condition. Some loss on the left side.
Size with Frame: 20" H x 19.25" W.
Provenance: Private Florida Collection. Consignor just turned 90 years old and has been collecting his entire life.
