Fluted frieze above bird in flight within cartouche, flanked between two putti figures, lion mask below
39cm high, 29cm wide
TOGETHER WITH A pair of carved oak small corbels, 10cm high, 7cm wide
Provenance:
The first Bonhams, The Oak Interior, 13th May 2015 lot 391. Catalogued as "a vulning pelican wings displayed and inverted". It has been suggested however that it may be an owl.
Condition Report:
First with losses to margins- notably corners and raised sections of strapwork, lower right corner absent later holes for display mounting.
Brackets, both later cut to top and base - one with losses to centre of leaf carving
