Description
Raw Indonesian Amber
This Indonesian amber dates back to the mid to late Miocene period, around 20 million years ago. Often found alongside coal, amber forms in a similar way—both originate from plant matter that hardens over millions of years. However, while coal develops from decayed plants that turn into peat, amber forms when tree resin fossilizes. Under the right conditions, the removal of oily compounds called terpenes allows the resin to harden, preserving it over time.
