Description
U.S.A. 1950s. Die-cut embossed single-sided tin (SST). Sun Crest soda was created in 1938 by the National NuGrape Company of Atlanta, Georgia. Like many soda products of the era, Sun Crest was known for the distinctive design of its bottle. The bottle featured a honeycomb or pebble texture. It was so distinctive that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted it a unique patent in 1940. This thermometer was manufactured during the most prominent era for Sun Crest thermometers, featuring a 17 inch bottle-shaped design with bold orange coloring. Marked "Made in U.S.A." at lower edge. Grade: 8.75. Excellent colour and gloss. Minor creasing and paint nicks. Retains original thermometer held in place by tape on reverse. Minor paint nicks to edges. 16.75" x 5" x 0.25". Authenticated by The Authentication Company (TAC #501342). All items are guaranteed authentic by Miller & Miller Auctions. From the late Marcel Gallays Collection.
