Description
Canada. 1940s. Single-sided tin (SST). The unusual thing about this sign is the "DP" marked at the lower edge. It actually stands for "door push", a marking that seems obvious and unrequired yet logical from a warehouse worker's standpoint. Signage was a massive part of a beverage company's overhead. Signs were simply coded so that a worker had a quick way to find a particular sign in a warehouse filled with thousands of crates of signs. The "DP" allowed the worker to grab 50 "DP's" for a delivery truck without having to unwrap the protective paper from every single sign to see what was inside. Marked "DP" lat lower edge. Grade: 8. Excellent colour and gloss. Minor diagonal scratches originating at upper left edge and extending across the ribbon logo. Minor nicks to edges. 12" x 4". Authenticated by The Authentication Company (TAC #501360). All items are guaranteed authentic by Miller & Miller Auctions. From the late Marcel Gallays Collection.
