An impressive mid-20th century silver-plated gallery tray by Viners of Sheffield, England, of fine quality and large size.
The tray is made from Alpha Plate, Viners’ highest-grade silver plate, and is hand chased with elaborate foliate and latticework engraving.
The pierced gallery rim is decorated with a classical swag and column motif and finished with a gadrooned edge.
Supported on five shell-form feet and stamped to the underside: “Granted The Cutlers Company 1936 – Alpha Plate – Viners of Sheffield – England – Chased.”
This piece likely dates from the 1950s–60s, during the height of Viners' production of luxury plated wares.
