A good quality desk inkwell, circa 1900, set in warm Siena marble with gilt bronze mounts in the neoclassical style.
The hinged domed lid is finely decorated with rope-twist and engraved detail and surmounted by a foliate finial.
It opens to reveal the original removable white ceramic liner.
The square marble base is mounted with applied foliate decoration and raised on four small turned feet.
Condition Good antique condition.
Minor edge nibbles and surface marks to the marble, light oxidation to the interior of the lid, and a slightly loose hinge so the lid does not close tightly.
The liner remains intact and removable.
