1979 Ferrari 308 GTS RHD – Chassis 27333

According to the history report on file from the Maranello Concessionaires archive, their order S/083 of 10/04/1979 was for a car commissioned by dealer Huxford of Fareham, finished in Blu Sera over blue hides and carpets and a front spoiler. The order was later changed to Verde Pino Metallizzato 106-G-30 over Sabbia hides and Corda carpets, air conditioning and flashing front fog lamps.

This chassis was first registered VPO 1T to a Mr Woolley, then Chairman of Ford dealership group Hendy-Lennox; today the car wears the same registration. The car went through four further owners and a colour change to red prior to Eddie Walsh’s acquisition in 1995, with a Polaroid photo on file of the car from this period outside his premises.  

 Soon thereafter Walsh set about restoring the vehicle, which was stripped and repainted in Rosso Chiaro to a high standard. Walsh had intended to sell the car to a buyer who would fund the rest of the project, with the understanding that Walsh would complete the restoration on their behalf. However, no such arrangement materialised, and the car remained in his long-term ownership thereafter.

 All removed components had been methodically stored and have now been gathered, and the car is largely complete down to the original jacking kit, with the known main missing items being the windscreen and one rear quarter glass. 

 Project examples of this ever-popular model rarely come to market, making chassis 27333 an exceptional opportunity. With the expensive body restoration work already completed, it offers an ideal foundation for the next custodian to carry the project through to completion – the conundrum is whether to finish in the current colour scheme or revert to the stunning and rare Verde Pino Metallizzato?
