Louis Vuitton: a Malle Aéro Glass Dome 2013 Hot air balloon design in glass dome Condition Grade A 8cm wide, 12cm high, includes booklet and box Footnotes: The Air Balloon dome draws inspiration from a 1910s drawing by Pierre-Émile Legrain, depicting a man asleep inside a Louis Vuitton trunk, which serves as the gondola of a hot-air balloon. In 1906, Louis Vuitton introduced the first version of its 'unsinkable' trunk. The name Aéro was officially trademarked two years later. By 1920, at the fifth Salon de l'Aéronautique held at the Grand Palais in Paris, aviation was rapidly evolving, and the term 'Aéro' had become closely associated with this new era of flight. The Aéro trunk was conceived as an extra-light model designed specifically for air travel. Weighing approximately 18 pounds when empty and able to hold between 8 and 12 kilograms of clothing.
