Description
This is a circulated example of the 1899-O Morgan Silver Dollar, struck at the New Orleans Mint. The obverse features the classic Liberty head profile designed by George T. Morgan, surrounded by the Latin motto ?E PLURIBUS UNUM” and the date below. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle with outstretched wings clutching arrows and an olive branch, flanked by the inscriptions ?UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” ?IN GOD WE TRUST,” and ?ONE DOLLAR.” The "O" mintmark is visible beneath the wreath, indicating it was minted in New Orleans. The coin is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper, with a standard weight of 26.73 grams and a diameter of 38.1 mm. Morgan dollars from 1899-O are moderately scarce in higher grades, but circulated examples like this one are more commonly available to collectors. Despite visible wear and scattered scratches, the key details remain legible, making it a desirable piece for type collectors or those completing a mint-marked Morgan Dollar set.
Condition
Circulated, noticeable wear and surface marks, but date and mintmark remain clearly visible.
