About the ART and the Artist:
The lithograph was published in 2001 and printed at the Curwen Press, with their blind stamp centre bottom of print, on hand made wove paper.
It is signed by Peter Blake in lower right corner and is number 178 of 350 copies. The print is framed in a plain black frame with a cream mount.
Studio Tack Board 2 is a homage to Blakes infamous STUDIO TACK BOARD which was produced in the 1960s
On the anniversary of the CURWAN Press studio, “I was asked to produce an ART WORK for them. So I revisited the idea of a collection of Postcards that I had accumulated from my travels. I framed the idea in a Victorian and BRITISH COLONIAL JUBILEE Empire context”.
I referred back to that print, and using some of the original postcards, from a set called Salut De Constantinople I made this lithograph Studio Tack Board 2." Peter Blake.
Sheet Size 74cm x 53cm.
In 1959, inspired by reproductions by Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns, Blake began to paint collage-like pictures of pop musicians and film stars and to produce assemblages made of recycled material, postcards and other items.
