Description
Powder flask, dated 1787.
German. Round body made of finely turned, grained burl wood, with brass ornaments inserted centrally on both sides. 12 x 9.5 x 3.5 cm. With richly profiled brass mounting, spring-loaded spout and decoratively worked shoulder section; the warm patina of the wood forms an effective contrast to the gold-colored metal parts. Very good, age-appropriate condition. Purchased from Georg Britsch. A high-quality example of civilian hunting and shooting equipment from the late 18th century.
