Max Ackermann
1887 Berlin - 1975 Unterlengenhardt - Untitled (Bathers) - Oil/wood. 33.3 x 24 cm, 50 x 40 cm (dimensions with frame). Signed on the reverse: MAX ACKERMANN. Fully visible in object frame under glass. Max Ackermann was a German painter and graphic artist. He studied in 1906 at the Art School in Weimar with Henry van de Velde, in 1908 in Dresden in Richard Müller's drawing class, then from 1909 in Munich with Franz von Stuck at the Academy of Fine Arts. In 1912 he went to Stuttgart, where he joined the circle of students of Adolf Hölzel at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, whose theories greatly impressed him. Here he learned access to abstract painting.
