A BAROQUE FIGURE OFA HOLY BISHOP
possibly Lower Franconia, ca. 1700
H. 63 cm
Hardwood, probably linden, carved with flattened back. Later stained and coated with varnish. Newly added base. Right hand, part of the miter, tip of the nose, tip of the shoe added, minor age damages. Old inventory label on the reverse, No. 1335.
Property of a thuringian noble family, formerly Schloß Poschwitz near Altenburg.

Laubholz, wohl Linde, rückseitig geflacht. Später gebeizt und mit Lack überzogen. Sockel neuzeitlich ergänzt. Rechte Hand, Teil der Mitra, Nasenspitze, Schuhspitzen ergänzt. Alterssch. Rückseitig altes Inventaretikett, Nr. 1335.
