World War Two U.S. Navy VF-19 squadron patch. The patch is schiffli embroidery on twill. Measures 7" x 5". Established as Fighter Squadron Nineteen VF-19 on August 15, 1943. The insignia was approved by the Office of Chief of Naval Operations - CNO in 1943. Nicknamed "Satan's Kittens", VF-19 was deployed on the USS Lexington and the USS Long Island and flew the Grumman F6F-5/5N/5P. VF-19 conducted strafing runs for the invasion of Guam. After that they flew many similar flights over Palau, Iwo Jima, Leyte, Formosa, and Okinawa. Pick up is Sunday, March 29 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
