(1901-1987) Senior United States Army officer and diplomat, served in World War II as Commander of 101st Airborne Division nicknamed 'The Screaming Eagles’. A.L.S. on his personal letterhead, 1p. 8vo., Washington, July 9, 1979. Taylor recalls his ‘most memorable experiences in WWII - landing by parachute on Norman soil at about 3am on D-Day morning…’. Rusted paperclip impressed at left margin, else very good.
