(1828 – 1885) 'The Preacher General', a Southern Baptist preacher and Confederate brigadier general who fought at Shiloh, Perryville, the Kentucky Campaign, and the Battle of Chickamauga. Maj. Gen. Patrick Cleburne, Lowrey's divisional commander during the Franklin-Nashville Campaign, pronounced Lowrey 'the bravest man in the Confederate Army'. Rare, full signature in black ink on a 3.5 x 2.25 in. card, adding his rank ‘Brigadier General C. S. Army’. Shows very faint ink burn from another document, mentioned only for accuracy, with mounting remnants to the verso, otherwise in very good to fine condition overall.
