Ca. late 19th century AD. A prestige stool of square form, the seat covered with hide and secured with rows of domed metal studs, supported by four tapering legs joined by stretchers. Such stools were emblems of rank and power within Tschokwe society, used by chiefs and notable men as symbols of prestige.
