About the ART and the ARTIST:
The BLACK Scale Model of the original full size Trabant Car by Thierry Noir from 1984 is a fully realistic and faithful copy of the original. This version in COLOURs and Black.
Designed and made in 1994 to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Thierry Noir and his 1984 art invasion of berlin which included artistic decoration of the Berlin Wall and Trabant cars
In 1984,Thierry Noir became the first artist to illegally paint miles of the Berlin Wall. With his now infamous Heads Series.
This revolutionary act inspired other artists, and over the next five years the Wall was covered with layers of artwork and images, creating a ‘palimpsest of protest’. As Noir says, painting the Wall made him feel stronger than it.
For years, the Wall had stood as an oppressive symbol of a divided world, materialising in a history of separation and struggle. Noir’s work subverted this iconic symbol of war into a symbol of hope, granting it a real human significance.
For collectors, the Iconic ‘Black Berlin Heads’ Series BY THIERRY NOIR is captured on this 1:39 scale model of Noir's full-size, hand-painted Trabant car.
Printed signature to side ‘Noir’ with original Paper manufacturer's label to underside ‘Muddastadt GmbH Berlin’. This work was produced by Muddastadt GmbH, Berlin.
This work is a 1:39 scale model of Noir's full-size, hand-painted Trabant car in Black.
