Issued in 1953 to mark the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II this commemorative stamp from Bermuda presents a finely engraved portrait of the young queen wearing the royal diadem framed within an elegant oval cartouche crowned at the top and surrounded by a delicate engine turned background in deep blue with the denomination one and a half penny at the upper corners. Printed by Bradbury Wilkinson by recess engraving on chalk surfaced paper with Multiple Script CA watermark and comb perforation 13½ x 13 it formed part of the great Coronation omnibus that linked many British territories in a shared imperial celebration. The design reflects dignity continuity and modern monarchy as Bermuda emerged into the postwar era using postage as both communication and symbolic expression. The stamp measures approximately 27 x 36 mm and shows crisp impression rich color and refined shading demonstrating the technical quality of Bradbury Wilkinson engravers.
