(26.7 x 67.9 cm) Footnotes: 西藏 十四/十五世紀 木雕漆金彩繪護經板 Provenance Mokotoff Asian Arts, New York, 1989 The Robert and Lois Baylis Collection, Connecticut Carved in high relief and featuring a central enthroned image of Prajnaparamita, the Buddhist goddess of transcendent wisdom, seated on a lion throne beneath an ornate prabhamandala. She is flanked by similarly enthroned figures of Vairocana and Shakyamuni. Each figure is framed by columns of miniature Buddhas and scrolling cloud motifs. The composition is further enriched with borders of lotus petals, beading, and flames, as well as the Four Heavenly Kings at the cardinal points. A Tibetan manuscript cover with strong stylistic and iconographic similarities was sold at Sotheby's, New York, 22 March 2018, lot 1060.
