Description
Five Tsugaru lacquerware itemsTwo large plates, a tea set, a tea canisterI carefully packed away the large plates and the tea set because I felt it was too wasteful to use them.Only the tea canister is a second-hand item. The other items were never used.In the last photo, there are some slight scratches on the surface of the large plates.Tsugaru lacquerware originates from Hirosaki City in Aomori Prefecture, with a history of over 300 years, known for its durability and beauty. Its feature lies in the "meticulous lacquer coating technique," which involves repeated lacquer application and polishing. The four representative techniques are Tang coating, Shichiko coating, Nishiki coating, and Monogatari coating. Due to the production process requiring over 50 steps, Tsugaru lacquerware is also known as "clumsy lacquerware" for its practicality, durability, and longevity.
