Ito Shinsui1898 (Meiji 31) - 1972 (Showa 47)Born in Tokyo. Deeply influenced by the works of Hayami Gyoshu, he aspired to become a Japanese painter and later studied under Kaburaki Kiyokata. He was mainly active in official art exhibitions. As a painter inheriting the tradition of ukiyo-e, he continuously experimented with new painting styles while preserving the tradition. With outstanding drawing skills, he excelled in depicting healthy and bright beauties, which were highly popular among the public. He was acclaimed as a master of bijinga (beautiful women painting). After the war, he lived in Kamakura.This artwork has been preserved by the family for about 40 years.Source of the artworkAfter Ito Shinsui's passing, it was acquired from his son's wife.With signature.
