Action with 1895 date without model is in the correct serial number range for this variant, made before the official adoption of the Model 1896. Action shows later improvements. Stock is also of later style, buttplate having trap with space for oiler and cleaning rod. Saddle ring is affixed to left side on 1 3/4" bar with faint remnants of inspector's marks behind base plate. CONDITION: good, retaining traces of original blue. Metal is mostly gray to brown patina. Stocks have old oil refinish with details softened, inspector's marks almost obliterated. There is a professional epoxy repaired break in wrist area plus additional refinish of stock.
