Certified Gems:
Gem: 1
Lab: GIA
Certification #: 1232732914
Carat: 38.05
Shape: Triangular
Origin: N/A
Treatment: No Indications of Heating
Type: Tourmaline
Overall Condition: Very Good
Condition Notes: Purple to violet tourmaline of this depth represents a narrower segment of the species, where trace element balance plays a critical role in achieving such concentrated saturation. This stone presents with strong clarity and deliberate faceting, resulting in a dynamic face up presence with shifting internal light return.
While copper bearing tourmaline in this color range is frequently associated with deposits in Mozambique and Nigeria, GIA specifically notes: "Although this tourmaline contains copper and manganese, the properties are not consistent with what is called ‘paraíba tourmaline’ in the trade." In the marketplace, and at Heritage, stones of this chemistry are often described as "Paraíba-Type."
Internal features are limited primarily to fine trichite bands and minor needle like inclusions. These inclusions have been oriented vertically during cutting, minimizing visual interruption and preserving the stone’s saturated body color and overall brilliance.
Heritage Auctions strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder. Statements by Heritage regarding the condition of objects are for guidance only and should not be relied upon as statements of fact, and do not constitute a representation, warranty, or assumption of liability by Heritage. All lots offered are sold "AS IS"
