
An Italian late 19th/early 20th century 'Exhibition type' carved stained pine console table and mirror C.1890-1910 With eleven assorted merry putti disporting in asymmetrical adornment of the rectangular bevelled plate, comprised of five music-making putti, four putti frolicking and a pair dancing together, above elongated scrolled foliate brackets, over a table with projecting rounded front angles and a lunette carved edge, the marble inset top above a scrolled foliate and laurel leaf carved shaped apron centred by a musical trophy, on four scrolled legs, each front leg modelled as a Psyche caryatid holding a lyre and terminating in acanthus, with an x-stretcher comprised of floral carved elongated c-scrolls surmounted by a central pair of music-making putti, historic restorations and some losses, the mirror: 175cm high x 85cm wide, the table: 141cm wide x 62cm deep x 89cm high, (55 1/2in wide x 24in deep x 35in high) Footnotes: The present lot was formerly offered on behalf of the current owner and vendor, Bonhams, New Bond Street, 12 December 2013, Fine European Furniture, lot 268.
