A pair of large Japanese Satsuma earthenware shell-form dishes Late Meiji period (1868-1912) or Taisho period (1912-1926) Each of shallow oval form raised on naturalistic shell feet, the interiors painted and gilded with figural seascapes depicting scenes of a group of warrior musicians, and a group of elderly musicians and a serpent, all amidst the foaming ocean waves below scrolling cloudy skies, the rims with dense foliate gilt borders, the undersides moulded with barnacles and other small shells, each 10cm wide, 43cm wide, 32cm deep approximately (2) For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
