Coming with its "Manufactured by C.E. Beaird" over-label, this early The Speck Bait box and lure were originally made by the Fort Wayne Bait Company. The 1 1/2" lure is possibly a prototype/test lure, cut down from a standard Speck Bait, the hollowed body/tail hand painted red and a fly dressed treble hook added. The box grades about VG+ with light wear and soiling, the "Nyona Lake Macy, Ind." over-label having fallen off long ago but retained.
