
A late 18th century George III blue japanned eight day longcase clock Thomas Smith, London The case surmounted by three brass ball finials over a pagoda top and break arch moulded section over four turned columns with gilded capitals and glazed observation windows to the sides, the concave throat moulding over the long trunk door with break arch moulded surround with lacquered front panel, the sides with further decoration terminating in a plinth base with further lacquer decoration. The 12 inch brass dial with silvered chapter ring with black Roman numerals and Arabic five minute markers with a matted centre and subsidiary seconds dial and calendar aperture signed in a central name cartouche Thomas Smith, London with blued steel hands framed by cast brass spandrels with a strike/silent subsidiary to the break arch.
