
An engraved armorial coin rummer, early 19th century, the coin dated 1811 The generous cup-shaped bowl decorated with a three-masted ship in full sail, titled 'RAMILLIES' on a banner below, together with the Farmer's arms with the motto 'SPEED THE PLOUGH' below, and a roundel inscribed with the initials 'CC', the frame surmounted by a basket of fruit and with a floral garland below, the stem with a hollow ball knop containing an 1811 Northumberland and Durham silver sixpence token, payable by John Robertson, set between mereses, over a folded conical foot, 20.1cm high Footnotes: It is possible that the ship on this rummer is HMS Ramillies, a 74-gun third rate ship of the line of the Royal Navy, launched on 12 July 1785 at Rotherhithe.
