
Three creamware or pearlware mugs, circa 1790-1810 The smallest moulded in relief and picked out in bright enamels with the equestrian figure of the Duke of Cumberland, the reverse with Hercules the slaying the Hydra, 10cm high, the barrel-shaped mug printed and hand-coloured with a scene of sailors enjoying a tipple on deck, titled 'The Cann of Grog', a drinking verse by Charles Dibdin below, 12.5cm high, the largest mug finely printed and sparingly hand-coloured with the seated figure of Britannia mourning by a portrait of Horatio, Lord Nelson, 14.8cm high (3) Footnotes: A jug with the same moulded detail showing the Duke of Cumberland is illustrated by John and Griselda Lewis, Pratt Ware (1984), p.166.
