A Dutch engraved baluster 'Orangist' wine glass, mid-18th century The glass German, the thistle-shaped bowl with a solid beaded base, decorated to one side with a fruiting orange tree growing from elaborate foliate scrollwork, on a tall teared bobbin-knopped stem comprising five graduated knops, over a high folded conical foot, 20.1cm high Footnotes: Provenance Private Collection, Belgium, 27 November 2024, lot 37 The goblet presumably relates to Prince Willem V, who became Stadholder of the Dutch United Provinces in 1747.
