An engraved rummer, circa 1800 The generous ovoid bowl decorated with a continuous rural landscape depicting a shepherd and his dog seated beneath a tree before a flock of three sheep, a squirrel perched on a branch above with a sprig between its paws, a farmer driving a horse-drawn plough beneath a flock of birds in flight to the other side, resting on a collar above a short plain stem and square moulded 'lemon squeezer' foot, 15.7cm high Footnotes: Provenance With Delomosne and Son, June 2014 Peter Eales Collection, Bonhams, 26 June 2025, lot 43 The engraver of this charming farming scene evidently had some difficulty engraving the head of the seated shepherd, which is somewhat amusingly concealed in its entirety behind a branch of the tree.
