Six interesting engraved tumblers, five dated 1828-1850 Of plain tapering shape, comprising two for the Foresters Friendly Society, including a crested example inscribed 'Succes to the forrester' [sic] in diamond-point to one side and 'H Williams/ July 10/ 1850' to the other; and one inscribed 'ROYAL FORRESTERS/ GEORGE & BETTY CLAY/ 1828' with an archer hunting a stag to the reverse; together with one inscribed 'RALPH POOL/ SUCCESS TO HIS WIFE & FAMILY/ CHURCH & KING/ APRIL 14th 1828'; one inscribed 'JOHN ROGERS' and 'INDEPENDENT ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS' above various emblems; a Lancashire example inscribed 'John Wild 4th Royal/ Dragoon Guards/ M H' and '1840' in diamond-point; the last a Yorkshire marriage glass inscribed 'George & Sarah Crowther/ At Elland/ February 15th/ 1834' with a verse from a love poem to the reverse, 7.9cm to 13.7cm high (6) For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
