
Attributed to Christian Fredrich Zincke (German, 1683-1767): Portrait of a gentleman painted on enamel, together with a further portrait of a gentleman called Claude Sarrall (French, d. 165?), French school, late 17th century The first of oval form depicted wearing a long white wig and red coat, within gilt frame, the rear with old paper label with suggested attribution, within gilt metal frame, the second depicting Sarrall, councillor to the Parlement du Paris, oval on ivory, the rear with woven hair keepsake, within a later gilt frame, the first, 4,5cm x 3.7cm, the second, 4.4cm x 3.6cm (not including frames) (2) Footnotes: Zincke was a German miniature painter working in England in the first half of the 18th century. From 1706 he was recorded working from Tavistock Street in London.
