
Attributed to George Engleheart (English, 1750-1828): Portrait miniature of Gabriel Matthias (1719-1805), together with three other English portrait miniatures of gentleman, the first, circle of George Engleheart, the second attributed to Charles Robertson (English, 1844-1891), the last attributed to Thomas Hull (English, 1728-1808) All oval, on ivory, the first sitter with powdered hair, blue jacket and white jabot, circa 1775 (the reverse inset with a later print of a lady), in gilt circular frame, the second sitter, circa 1790, in gilt frame set within a plaited hair border, the rear with blue glass backing and hair keepsake, the third sitter, a gentleman from the Woolcan family in navy coat, red waistcoat and white stock, mounted in a black wooden frame with seed pearl border, the last wearing a blue coat with red collar, signed above the shoulder on the right hand side, in gilt frame, the reverse with a lock of hair keepsake with monogram IM within a blue glass ground, the first, 2.6cm diameter, the second, 4xm x 3.2cm, the third, 5.3cm x 4.5cm, the fourth 6cm x 4.5cm (all not including frames) (4) Footnotes: .
