
Attributed to Thomas Flatman (English, 1635-1688): Portrait of Sir Heneage Finch, Earl of Nottingham, together with a further portrait miniature, attributed to George Vertue (English, 1684-1756): Portrait of John Maitland Hartland, 1st Duke of Lauderdale the first depicting the sitter in three quarter profile looking to dexter wearing a curling dark wig, oval on ivory, the second painted in three quarter profile looking to sinister wearing a curling long wig and robes, oval, oil on card, both mounted in elaborate white metal frames, the later with ornamented back, the first 4cm x 3.2cm, the second, 6.5cm x 5cm (not including frames) (2) Footnotes: Thomas Flatman was both a poet and miniature painter.
