Of classic two piece construction with a central fleur-de-lis on a blacked background, fluted comb with acid etching depicting florals on a geometric field. Base of skull with studs for 14 rosettes, but four are missing. Rear of comb with plume holder. CONDITION: Good, showing great age throughout. Comb with some oxidation through on right side, with areas of scattered delamination throughout. Ground shows evidence of an old restoration, etching possibly also dates to restoration. An authentic morion likely subjected to upgrade during the Victorian period.
