Description
Walloon of classic type, with blade incised with three fullers that appears to run nearly the full length, but is difficult to tell with the patination softening details. Double shell guard with two bars that run to D-guard with short counterguard. Cylindrical grip, slightly flared about the waist, with a globular pommel. No thumb ring nor does there ever have been for a provision for one; a similar example with no thumb ring is pictured on pg. 10 of "Arms & Armor of the Pilgrims" by Harold Peterson, attributed to Elder Brewster. CONDITION: Very good. Blade is dark with even oxidation and flashes of gunmetal grey mixed with mossing. Mounts are essentially chocolate patina throughout. Grip with some handling marks and chips near ferrules, slightly shrunk, with some minor insect damage. Blade Length: 31" Overall Length: 38"
