18th/19th century, hardwood throughout, possibly [Huanghuali,] with yoke back and woven fiber seat, 43-1/4 x 24 x 17-1/2 in., one chair with patches and restorations at crest, crack to seat support with some later bracing, crack and repair at one front leg/arm support, cracks and repairs to arm supports, circular patches to seat frame (arms restored/reconfigured); second chair with splice repair to one rear stile (apparently original material), minor repairs at arm/arm support joint, patch of joint of splat to crest, other cracks and repairs at crest, both chairs with scattered wear, finish losses and stains. Provenance: Estate of Robert W. Daniel, Jr., Brandon Plantation, Spring Grove, Virginia
