An early 19th century hand-stitched needlework sampler, dated 1826, worked in muted red, blue, and green threads on linen. The sampler features rows of alphabets across the top, decorative basket and floral motifs, a resting deer figure, and a large central house flanked by trees, all enclosed within a strawberry vine border. The inscription appears to include initials and the date 1826, executed in traditional cross-stitch. The textile shows expected age-related toning, fading, and minor losses consistent with its age. Housed in a later wooden frame with visible wear to the frame and backing. A charming and authentic example of early American folk art needlework, displaying classic motifs and composition typical of the period. Approx. frame size (in): 21.75 x 17 x 0.75.
