Description
Jetter Mars Jetter MarsDôga in graphite and colored pencil created for the anime after Osamu Tezuka. Animated by Rintaro, director of Albator, the Space Corsair. Produced by Toei Animation 1977, JapanBefore the warrior robot, there's the human robot. In 1952, Osamu Tezuka, nicknamed the "god of manga", created Tetsuwan Atom - Astro, the little robot - and simultaneously invented the robot with soul, conscience and suffering. This profoundly humanist vision of mechanics permeated all subsequent Japanese animation. The celluloïds and dôga gathered here, produced by Mushi Production and Tezuka Productions, represent several generations of Astro: the original series, its 1980s color makeover, and Jetter Mars, the "cousin" character created by Tezuka himself as an editorial alternative. The celluloid sheet in lot 38, produced by Mushi Production, is one of the oldest in the sale, a direct witness to the early days of Japanese TV animation. The original dôga of lots 39 and 40, executed in graphite and colored pencil, offer a rare window into the master's creative process.
