Description: Pilliyar- the dotting child of Shiva and Parvati reigns over the imagination of Tamil Sthapatis, where his different forms are expressed with devotion and aesthetic richness. This enthralling Panchaloha statue of Ganesha envisions him in a mesmerizing dancing posture, in which he is known as Nritya Ganapati or Narthan Vinayakara. With his left leg balancing the weight of his mammoth form, Ganesha throws his head back in a burst of bliss, and extends his four arms in splendid positions, to create a dynamism beyond words in this Panchaloha. His mountainous head is adorned with a Karandamukuta crown, his forehead is marked with a bloomed lotus symbolising supreme wisdom, his swinging trunk in which he wraps the pot of auspiciousness or Purnaghata is decorated with a bell. In his four hands, Sri Ganesha holds Paasha (noose), Ankusha (goad), broken tusk, and Modaka.
