Description
A Rare South Vietnamese Police Re-Issued M1 Helmet Dated 1969 with Police District Number 600 in good to very good condition with minor wear to the helmet or liner. A Rare South Vietnamese Police re-issued M1 helmet dated 1969 represents a piece of equipment originally produced for U.S. forces during the later years of the Vietnam War and subsequently transferred to the Republic of Vietnam National Police as part of American military aid. By the late 1960s, as U.S. strategy shifted toward “Vietnamization,” large quantities of American gear including the standard M1 steel helmet were redistributed to South Vietnamese military and internal security forces. Police units, particularly those responsible for urban security and counterinsurgency, often repainted these helmets and added hand-applied markings such as district numbers (like “600”) to identify specific jurisdictions or operational groups.
