Description
A Rare Norwegian M31 "Quisling" Helmet Possible SS Affiliated in good to very good condition. The helmet maintains good original paint with a nice chin strap, decal, and liner. The Norwegian M31 helmet, often referred to as the “Quisling helmet,” was originally adopted by Norway in 1931 as a lightweight steel helmet influenced by contemporary European designs, but it became more closely associated with the German occupation during World War II. After Norway fell in 1940, the collaborationist regime led by Vidkun Quisling continued to use and issue the M31 to police, paramilitary units, and Hirden (his party’s uniformed wing), often marked with distinctive insignia. While the helmet itself was not an SS-specific design, some Norwegian collaborationist units that had ties to German forces including those aligned with or supporting SS activities were seen using similar equipment, which has contributed to its broader association with occupation-era authority structures.
