Each glass features a delicate, clear, gently flared bowl that rests upon a highly decorative and colorful stem. The stems are the true focal point, brilliantly constructed with a vibrant, ribbed peach-colored spherical node stacked above an elongated, similarly ribbed golden-yellow baluster. The elegant stems are grounded by classic, clear circular feet.

Historical Context: The Murano Stemware Tradition

For centuries, the island of Murano in the Venetian lagoon has been the undisputed epicenter of luxury glassmaking in Europe. During the mid-to-late 20th century, Murano experienced a massive resurgence in international popularity as global exports boomed. Italian designers began playfully incorporating vibrant pops of color into traditional forms to appeal to modern entertaining aesthetics. The beautiful ribbed texture seen in the colorful nodes of these stems is classically known as rigadin, an optical effect achieved by blowing the hot glass into an open mold with ribbed sides before final shaping.
