Description
Mid 20th C. original oil on board farm scene.
Black and white dairy cows grazing on a hillside. Presents as Virginia or New England - discovered in a very fine Maryland estate.
Fantastic sky and foliage, lovely use of color.
Artist signed in lower left.
Molding presents as artist original in layered and faceted gold and black. Showing patina but integrate nicely with the texture of the artwork itself.
17" wide by 13" tall by 1.5" deep.
In keeping with Aesop's fable, Fox and Crow's Motto is "Beware of False Flattery!" So, with each listing we offer a true confession about the item...
This is a charming vernacular piece which touches several themes - big sky, landscape, agrarian, black and white cattle, modern impressionist...well-executed, bright, with patina and character.
The frame actually makes it...heavy, not too gold and not too black, with the nicks and dings of a few decades of enjoyment.
For the farmhouse or for the mud room...a perfect scene setter.
