Nakagawa Joeki mark to the inner side of bottom of each bowl, and signature Nakagawa Joeki IX on the wood cover. The ninth-generation head of a Kyoto lineage of artisans known primarily for producing tea ceremony utensils, Nakagawa J?eki adapted to the decline of traditional patronage in the Meiji era with the support of the Mitsui family, turning instead to the creation of finely executed ornamental works such as the present piece. 4.3/8 in. high, 6 in. diam. each.
