About the artist: Ivan Makarovich Gonchar was born into a large peasant family on January 27, 1911 in the village of Lipyanka. In 1930, Ivan Makarovich graduated from the Kiev School of Industrial Art (studied with V. Klimov).
In 1936 he graduated from the Kiev Institute of Agrochemistry and Soil Science (now the Institute of Agriculture UAAS). Participated in the Great Patriotic War [3].
On February 4, 1988, the first personal exhibition of Potter was held in the exhibition hall of the Union of Artists of Ukraine.
Ivan Gonchar was not officially married and, having no children of his own, adopted his nephew Peter - later the artist and director of the Ivan Gonchar Museum in Kiev.
He died in Kiev, was buried at the Baikovo cemetery.
