This is a very ornate pair of gilt bronze wall sconces, likely dating from the early to mid 20th century, executed in the Rococo style. Each sconce features three lights with candle-form covers and highly decorative scrolling arms adorned with acanthus leaves and floral motifs. The central backplate is elaborately cast with shell and foliate designs. The gilt finish shows significant wear and patination consistent with age, revealing the bronze beneath. These sconces would have originally been wired for electricity, and the wiring appears to be exposed and possibly in need of repair or replacement. The candle covers are also heavily discolored and worn.
